“I AM” project… Week 2
This week’s Scripture reference is John 8:12 “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’” (NIV)
In my Bible, the study note state that it is also true that “God is light” (1 John 1:5) and, as Jesus’ followers reflect the light that comes from him, they too are “the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14). “The light of life” refers to God, but Jesus is also the light from God that lights the way for life.
The last sentence of the Scripture resonates in me… Those who believe in Him will never have darkness in their life because the light of life resides in them. Darkness meaning both the darkness of this world and Satan. Where there is light, darkness cannot reside. But the brightest part of all that, to me, is no matter where I go, I carry that light with me. So to move forward with that knowledge in my heart, emboldens me to step outside of my box and to be open to all the abundant blessings God has in store for me when I trust and believe Him in all my ‘unknown places.’
